Buying Skydive Addons Gear

Updated: Nov 19

Early in your skydiving journey, around the time you earn your A-license, you can start considering addons like helmets and altimeters.

There are many different brands, so it’s a good idea to try out gear, borrow from friends, and see how it feels for you. Also, look up reviews focusing on reliability and safety.

We’ve compiled links to popular products used and recommended in the local skydiving community, along with trusted stores for purchasing them. Of course, if you carefully verify everything, buying secondhand is also an option!

Important Notes:

  • Closed-Face Helmets: In most places, these are only allowed after you’ve earned your A-license. This is to avoid adding unnecessary distractions during the initial stages of your skydiving experience.

  • Audible Altimeters: We recommend waiting before using an audible altimeter. Instead, develop the healthy habit of consistently checking your visual altimeter during the jump.

Digital or Analog Altimeter?

  • Analog Altimeters: These are generally easier to read during a jump when identifying critical points like deployment altitude or decision altitude. The larger size and color changes make them more intuitive, especially for landing altitudes.

  • Digital Altimeters: Today, some training programs already include digital altimeters. If you’re transitioning to digital, we recommend jumping with both types initially to familiarize yourself with the new device.
